POLICY is important
Policy is important to 3 parties. 1st me. This is because I want my rabbits to go to a good home. I only home to someone who shows me they will care well for their rabbit. Rabbits need special care.I need someone who will listen well to care instructions. 2nd the policy is important to the RABBIT! Your rabbit wants special foods and love and care. so read carefully. 3rdly the policy is for you. You should know what my requirements are so you will be able to purchase from me. I want your experience to be a positive one. I want you to be successful. Most of all I hope to make your family happy with a choice that is a 4-10 yr commitment.
- I will re-home any rabbit your purchase from me. If you want your money back you'll have to wait until it is re-purchased. If it is not re-purchased then you will accept that you no longer have the responsibility and the rabbit is in good hands. And that you & I have done our best to care for the animals needs.
- I will make myself available to answer questions about raising your rabbit so you and your rabbit will be happy & successful.
- When you come to my home to meet with me and see the rabbits I have available we can assess what you are offering the rabbit and if you are ready. If we are all agreeable that you are right ready, then you can take home your rabbit that very day. IF you have a few things to do back at home to be ready then you can still pick out your rabbit and I will look after it until you are ready for the big day!!
- I do my very best to have the healthiest animals. I de-worm them and treat them for coccidiosis every 6 mo. I love my rabbits! However I do NOT grantee against unforeseen health issue or death. If your rabbit dies in 14 days I will replace it if it looks like you did your very best to look after it. After the 14 days, it is up to you. I recommend you also de-worm your rabbit every 6 mo. The Medicen is inexpensive and easy to administer..I can help you the 1st time if you need.
- you must be ready and already have a pen or house for your rabbit. 24/7 water available. fresh hay everyday. Rabbit pellets, learn how to clip nails and about brushing your rabbit. you need to know what your rabbit can and cannot eat..........I will provide a paper on rabbit care and info for you and your new family member. this paper will tell you these things and more.
- FOOD for your furry friend is simple but important! Rabbit pellets (these are made from alfalfa and come in 14, 16 or 18% protein) Rabbits REQUIRE protein and finer and water, with out these their health will suffer. veggies and fruit are only treats. fresh greens like grass, dandelion leaves, blackberry leaves and maple leaves are very much a good food source for your rabbit and a great treat as well. don't pick these where pesticides are used.
- HAY/GRASS 90% or a rabbits food source is finer that comes in form of pellets but also HAY...alfalfa or timothy grass. every day your rabbit should get ½ cup pellets and his or her body size in hay/grass.
- If your rabbit refuses food you provide...pay attention. the food might be bad or toxic or no-longer holds enough nutrients. OR they may just be out of water. OR the water bottle is not working..a rabbit MUST have water in order to eat.
- if you are a breeder/showee and are arranging a transport we can chat on the phone about those arrangements. If you are out of British Columbia, Canada, I will not make any deliveries in person myself. I may not even personally deliver off the Island. we will have to chat about transport arrangements when the time comes.
